In his early teen's back in the 70's Terry was a City and County of Honolulu lifeguard he enjoyed both saving lives and surfing some of the biggest waves in the world during his lunch breaks.
As time passed Terry Ahue, legendary Eddie Aikau, Brian Keaulana and other friend lifeguards enjoyed spending their weekends doing safety water patrol for big-wave surf contests around the Island. They would bring swim fins, rescue tubes and their personal watercraft and attach rescue tubes to the back just in case they where needed.
The years only brought these men more and more experience in some of the most dynamic ocean conditions conceivable. So once the word got out about Ahue and Keaulana they started getting requests for their services. Eventually the two friends thought it best to create an official business called Hawaiian Water Patrol Inc. leading to the increase in demand for their services.
At that time they didn't for see the success that would have. They later found themselves all over the place helping with patrol surf contests, overseeing commercial shows, major films, being flown around the world to places like California, Japan, Thailand, France, and Australia in order to train other public-safety agencies in the art of personal watercraft rescue. Just imagine how many lives where helped and saved through the efforts of this men.
Now days Terry spends his days working on big screen films doing stunts, works with Dahui in the development of surfer gear amongst spending time with his family and friends.
